Continuing Series in the Life of a Pastoral Care Pastor

April 5, 2010 – Monday; It was a great sunrise this morning…just cool enough to be really enjoyable. My daily reading took me to Psalm 52. When I read verse 8 – “But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love forever and ever”. Last Wednesday if you remember I spoke to the Prison Fellowship Staff and part of my message had to do with opening our spiritual eyes. In the bible men are very often referred to as trees and I shared several points of scripture but not this one…anyway it just spoke again to me about us having 2 sets of eyes and ears. Well after arriving at the office had one scheduled meeting and had to handle several walk-ins. Pastor Paul came in and we went to make a hospital visit to a lady having gall bladder surgery. After returning to the office I had a meeting with a family who lost their twin girl two weeks ago and we are in the midst of planning her memorial service. Spent over an hour discussing details for the April 17th service for the 10 year old girl. Shortly after she left I went to our school and conducted an hour long bible study for the pre-school teachers. This helps meet their CEU requirements for certification and it gives me a chance to stay in touch with the teaching staff of our school. Finally left the office shortly before 5 and stopped on the way home and bought some hamburger as the weather was so nice Jeanette and I wanted to cookout. Had a great meal and now relaxing watching 24 on TV waiting for the NCAA men’s basketball championship…unknown Butler against a power house called Duke…should be a good game.
