Continuing Series in the Life of a Pastoral Care Pastor
April 12, 2010 – Monday; The start of the morning was much earlier than usual. I was awake at 6 AM and my little alarm clock was a little confused. She looked at me and titled her little head to the right and then the left as to say…”did you just take 30 minutes of sleep away from me” and of course my answer was yup your little internal clock is going to be messed up today. Today was going to be an emotional day…starting with two early hospital visits for ladies having breast surgery to take care of cancer, then meeting with the mom of an 8 year old to put the final touches on her memorial service. I spoke about her in a previous blog….she was one half of a twin and contracted cancer and lost the battle. She passed in February but because of her father having cancer in the liver they wanted to wait until he was better to have the memorial service. So, after the morning hospital visits I spent a couple of hours with her putting the final touches on the service. I then met with a man who was struggling with some internal issues and assigned him a Stephen Minister then back to the hospital for the third lady having breast surgery. After that one I stopped at home and rested for about an hour. Took Penny for a walk which she was happy about and then back to church to get ready for the FPU free intro class we ran in conjunction with Dave Ramsey. Had 20 people from the community show and they loved the class. Randy and Suzanne Vel handled most of the program…I opened and closed it. Got home around 9 and went to bed a little early…full day. BTW…while Randy and Suzanne was teaching a lady came into the church needing to speak to a pastor…so, I guess I was supposed to be there last night. Good timing by the Lord…Amen.
